ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has said defense
budget has been increased by 2.42 percent as compared to fiscal year
2009-10.
Winding up debate on cut motions piloted by opposition
in National Assembly on defence ministry demands for grants, defence
minister Ahmad Mukhtar said defence budget did not contain four lines
but ample details had been provided. More details will be furnished in
regard to defence budget next year, he stated.
The government
has had no funds for construction of GHQ in Islamabad; he said adding
Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has also said there is no hurry in
terms of GHQ project.
Services chiefs evolve defence operational policy and defense ministry plays only the role of administration, he stated.
“Whatever
questions will be asked by law makers regarding defence budget I will
