Several Pakistan Muslim League-Q and PML-Q (Like-Minded Group) leaders have assured former military ruler Pervez Musharraf of their support on his return to the country, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Chief Coordinator Chaudhary Shahbaz Hussain has said.
Musharraf, who is currently in self-exile from Pakistan, has claimed several times that he would return to contest the next elections.
The former president, who launched his own political party APML in October 2010, has announced to return home by March 23 next year in view of the upcoming elections.
Now, APML Chief Coordinator Hussain has claimed that some Q leaders have offered tendering their resignations on the day of Musharraf's comeback, in order to join him.
Commenting on the possible political partners of the APML, if it joins the field in the next election, Hussain told The Nation that 'liberal progressive' forces would be the party's choice for an electoral alliance.
On the question of support from other factions of Muslim League, he asserted that the PML-F headed by Pir Pagaro had given assurance of his support to Musharraf during a telephonic chat last month, but conditionalised his complete support to the former president with his landing in the country.
Hussain also said that the APML desires to unite all factions of the Muslim League, and that it would take all steps to accomplish the task.
About the definite timeframe of Musharraf's return, he maintained that the APML chief would definitely return till March 23, 2012, adding that he could return earlier if the party leadership advised him to do so.
"We have played our innings, and we should prepare and groom the young generations for bringing a real change in the country and to gradually ending the dynastic political trends", Hussain added. ANI
