Pakistan has suspended commander of a major naval
air base which was hit by Taliban militants on Sunday, local media
reported Wednesday.
Geo television reported that Commodore Raja Tahir will remain
suspended pending the inquiry into the attack which left 10 navy
personnel dead.
Commodore Khalid Pervez has been appointed as new commander of the
PNS Mehran naval air base in the southern port city of Karachi.
Other TV channels reported that it was a routine transfer.
Geo TV reported that four former navy officers, who were convicted
of helping with attacks on defence facilities, were questioned about
the Sunday attack.
The four convicts jailed in Rawalpindi had never been posted at PNS Mehran, according to reports. Xinhua
