Pakistan was being attacked both by terrorists and the US, says former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
"Both terrorists and America are attacking Pakistan because of the
cowardice of our rulers," Sharif, who heads the Pakistan Muslim
League-Nawaz (PML-N), said.
He was referring to the unilateral operation launched by the US to
kill Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad city and to the string of terror
attacks in the country that have taken place ever since the Al Qaeda
leader was shot dead May 2.
Addressing a public gathering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province
Tuesday, he said Americans should be made accountable for the
Abbottabad operation, which breached the country's sovereignty.
"Who provided them (Americans) the opportunity to carry out the attack," Dawn quoted him as saying.
On the terror strike at the PNS Mehran base in Karachi Sunday night,
Sharif said: "It was an attack on our country and our enemies were
involved in it."
He said the government should probe it through a high level commission.
"The forces behind the attack want to destroy our capability to hunt down our enemies," he added.
A group of terrorists stormed the naval base Sunday night and
destroyed two surveillance aircraft. The 16-hour siege ended Monday
afternoon with the killing of four terrorists. Ten security personnel
died in the operation. IANS
