Brussels : Pakistan is "an important partner for the European Union and it was crucial for security in the region," a spokesman for the EU's Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton said on Thursday.
Ashton's spokesman Michael Mann told newsmen that the killing of Osama bin Laden in operation (by special forces of United States early Monday in Pakistan) has "raised questions on Pakistan's army andintelligence services. The operation underlines the need for a broad and reinforced relationship with Pakistan, including on security matters."
Mann said the government of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani "deserves our support in re-establishing its control over all organs of the state and parts of the country." PPI
