ISLAMABAD : Pakistan has informed US Senator John Kerry about its
grievances over unilateral US operation in
Pakistan.
Sources told Pakistan civil and military leadership made it clear on US
Senator that Abbotabad operation was a clear violation of Pakistan sovereignty.
Kerry was also informed about the Parliament joint sitting resolution and its
grievances on drone attacks.
US Senator Kerry on Monday met President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and
Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani at Presidency. Meeting was also attended
by Pakistani Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani and US Ambassador to the
Pakistan Cameron Munter.
Earlier Kerry held a one-one meeting with President Zardari. President
Zardari told the Senator that Pakistani people, Parliament, Army, and Government
have a united view point on Abbotabad operation. Meeting also discussed the
aftermath of Abbotabad operation, Pak-US relations and security situation of the
region.
President told the Senator that environment of distrust between the two
countries should be eliminated to improve the bilateral ties. President asked
the Senator if US have any credible secret information regarding terrorists’
presence inside Pakistan it should be shared with Pakistan so that Pak Armed
forces can precisely act on it.
On this occasion John Kerry said Pakistan has played an important role in
eradicating terrorism. Kerry termed Pak-US cooperation imperative in efforts to
eradicate terrorism. “We are ready to take Pakistan along with us but Pakistan
would also have to take certain measures in this regard”, Kerry demanded.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gilani in his meeting with Kerry at PM secretariat
told that Pakistan would not compromise on its sovereignty. Gilani said we held
our sovereignty sacred than foreign aid and US operation inside Pakistan has
affected its sovereignty.
Gilani informed Kerry that Pakistani people have strong grievances about
Abbotabad operation. Gilani said Pakistan has great importance for its relations
with US but the bilateral relations should be based on equality. PM said both
countries have to think seriously to avoid any such incident in the future. SANA
