Chaudhry Nisar threatens to disclose details of in-camera briefing

ISLAMABAD : Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday threatened to disclose details of in-camera defence briefing to joint sitting of the Parliament except for one most significant point, if what he claimed “twisted and misleading news items appearing in a section of the press regarding proceeding of the session continue.”Addressing a news conference here at the Punjab House, he claimed it had been noticed that some quarters were feeding a selected part of media with twisted and misleading news items to distort image of “selected opposition leaders” and create misunderstanding among the masses.

Nisar said that there was no exchange of harsh words between him and the Director General of Inter Services Intelligence during the joint session of the Parliament.
Leader of the Opposition expressed concern over the drone attacks after the passage of a unanimous resolution of the Parliament, urging the government and military leadership to explain the situation.
He said the new terms of engagement with US about joint operation against any high-value target in Pakistan were “unacceptable” as the Parliament had not been taken into confidence especially after it passed a resolution condemning the US forces’ unilateral operation in Abbottabad on May 2.
Nisar underlined the need for early setting up an independent commission on the May 2. PML-N was going to float names of Justice ® Shafi-ur-Rehman, Justice ® Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice ® Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim, senior journalist Majeed Nizami, President of Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir and politician Mehmood Khan Achakzai in a letter to the Prime Minister.
However, he clarified that these names were being given just for giving an idea to the government that members of the commission should be of such repute. APP
