ISLAMABAD : Parliamentary Committee on National Security would hold
its meeting tomorrow (Friday) at Parliament House to
discuss about submissions on putting an end to drone strikes in Pakistani tribal
areas.
Political pressure on the government has been increased to actively pursue
against drone strikes in Pakistani tribal belt. Whereas most of the members of
the parliamentary committee have shown their agreement upon the suggestions of
putting a blockade on NATO’s logistic supply line, which is passing through
Pakistan.
An extraordinary decision by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security
is expected during its meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow (Friday).
Meanwhile the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar is going
to brief the committee on national security matters and she will specially brief
about the efforts that have been done until now by the government to end drone
strikes.
However it will be cleared after her briefing at Foreign Office that what is
the decision of the government on the suggestions those are given by several
religious and political parties to block NATO supply rout which is passing
through Pakistan.
Meanwhile the overall situation of the tribal areas would also be discussed
during the parliamentary committee meeting.
On the other hand, some of the parliamentary parties have suggested passing a
unanimous resolution in the parliament against drone strikes and in case of the
drone strikes continuing then taking this issue in the United Nations Security
