Two police cops were gunned down by unknown armed men in
Khalidabad area here in Peshawar on late Wednesday night.
According to police, unidentified armed assailants opened fire at two cops identified as Masood and Hayat who were on routine duty in Nasirabad Police Station jurisdiction leaving them critically injured.
The injured cops were rushed to Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) where both of them succumbed to their wounds.
The police cordoned off the areas after the firing incident and launched search operation but the murderers taking the advantage of darkness managed to flee.
It merits a mention here that it was third firing incident in the provincial capital during recent week in which police have been targeted.
A case has been registered against the unidentified armed men in Nasirabad Police Station and search for the culprits was underway.
