India constructed 43 hydel projects on Western rivers flowing from India to Pakistan: Naveed Qamar

ISLAMABAD : Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar told the National Assembly on Wednesday that India has constructed forty-three hydel projects on Western rivers flowing from India to Pakistan.

Responding to a call attention notice moved by Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur and others he said that thirty hydel projects have been constructed by India after the signing of the Indus Basin Treaty. Eight of these can be categorized as major hydel projects while remaining are small power generating projects. He said that Pakistan has raised the Kishan Ganga Dam project in the international court of justice and the matter is under arbitration in the Hague.
Earlier a privilege motion moved by Akhunzada Chittan regarding alleged misbehaviour of Political Agent Bajour Agency with him was referred to the Privileges Committee of the House.
Minister for States and Frontier Regions Engineer Shaukatullah did not oppose the motion. SANA
