Drone attacks unacceptable; Mike Mullen

RAWALPINDI: US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen. Khalid Shamim Wyne on Wednesday.

According to sources, both the high ups discussed host of issues like war against terrorism, cooperation to expand Pak-US military ties, Afghanistan situation and overall security situation in the country.
Military sources say that Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen. Khalid Shamim Wyne once again raised the issue of drone attacks with Mullen terming them unacceptable to Pakistan’s sovereignty.
On the other hand Mike Mullen said that currently relations between Pakistan and the United States were passing through a difficult phase, but both the countries were looking to establish strong relations.
He said that tense relations between Pakistan and the United States would be dangerous for the entire region, sources told.
Sources quoted Mullen as saying that despite the tensions, the US cannot terminate relations with Pakistan. He said that the US would continue military training for the Pakistani troops.
Mullen has arrived in Pakistan for talks on security issues, focusing on the anti-terror war and how to ease tension between the two allies.
