Rein in Rangers, Pakistan told

HUSSAINIWALA (FEROZEPUR): The BSF has asked its Pakistani counterpart not to allow its soldiers to make hostile or intimidating gestures during the ceremonial retreat.
This follows a Pakistani Ranger reportedly pushing a BSF jawan during the ceremony on Wednesday.

The situation turned ugly as the two sides exchanged blows soon after the incident. BSF DIG Abhay Kumar said on Thursday that the matter was sorted out the same day in a meeting of higher officials from both sides.

Sources said the BSF has asked Pak Rangers to show restraint and avoid any unpleasant development at the joint checkpost, where civilians from both sides come to watch the ceremony everyday. The hostile gestures during the ceremony convey an impression that relations between the two neighbouring countries seem to be far from normal.
