Petition challenges removal of seven PPP ministers from Pak Punjab cabinet

A petition has been filed before the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court, challenging the removal of seven Pakistan Peoples' Party Ministers from the Punjab province cabinet.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had earlier announced its decision to expel the PPP cabinet members from the provincial government last month.
Subsequently, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had sent an advice to Governor Latif Khosa, seeking the removal of the ministers from his cabinet, the Dawn reports.
The provincial government has also removed 13 PPP parliamentary secretaries.
In his petition to the court, Shahid Orakzai challenged the summary sent by Shahbaz to Governor Khosa and called the development unconstitutional.
The petitioner argued that the removal was made purely on political biases, and that the decision made by the PML-N in Islamabad was outside the jurisdiction of Punjab.
