FO expresses disagreement with US investigation’s findings

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) Friday expressed its disagreement with the findings of US investigation on NATO raid on Salala check post, perishing 24 Pakistani soldiers and wounding 16 others.

Pakistan army had already rejected the reported inquiry findings by US in this connection.
ISPR on Friday once again made it clear that Pak Army doesn’t agree with the findings of the US/NATO inquiry as being reported in the media. “The inquiry report is short on facts,” it stated.
When asked as what is the version of Pakistani foreign office over the investigation as Pak Army is rejecting US findings in connection with the NATO attack, FO Spokesman Abdul Basit through a mobile SMS said, “the same”.
On November 26, NATO/ISAF raided two Pakistani posts resulting causalities on part of Pakistani soldiers.
The incident ignited annoyance across Pakistan causing NATO supply blockade, boycott of Bonn conference and compulsion on US to vacate Shamsi airbase.
Several countries including the US and turkey vowed to launch an impartial investigation of the incident.
Pentagon on Thursday issued a report admitting that poor coordination between US and Pakistani military officers operating through the border coordination centre led the unfortunate attack.
The US investigations concluded that both US and Pakistan forces bear responsibility for the incident. It stated, “Mistakes by both American and Pakistani forces led to airstrikes against Pakistani border posts that killed 24 Pakistani Army soldiers last month”.
US Air Force Special Operations Command Brigadier General and the NATO air strike Investigating Officer Stephen Clark said a lack of trust and series of miscommunications contributed to the event. Online
