Zardari bigger dictator than Musharraf: Sherpao

ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister and chief of PPP (S) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said Asif Zardari is bigger dictator than Pervez Musharraf and he has failed to deliver democracy pledged by him.

He said this in his exclusive interview with Online here Monday. He held whenever army came to power in the past, it caused harm to country.
“I have no information about reactivation of political wing of ISI. Only rumours are going on. Every political party should rely on its power nor it should boost its power through clandestine aid. It can harm the country”, he underlined.
He maintained political forces had united in All Parties Conference doubtlessly. However PAC’s decisions are not being implemented.
He went on to say former president Afghanistan Burhan ud Din Rabbani had come very close to Pakistan and he wanted to move ahead peace process. However non-state actors delivered set back to peace process and they remained successful in their conspiracy, he remarked.
He held US had no clear policy about Pakistan and Afghanistan and US was still in a state of quandary. This has led to increase misperceptions between Pakistan and US, he said.
He went on to say 130000 NATO and US forces were present in Afghanistan. Time frame has been evolved for the pull out of these forces but it was not mentioned if US would eliminate its operational basis or otherwise after its withdrawal in 2014. US policies some times grow intense and some time they are softened. Influence of Washington is growing rather than state department.
He said US could not improve situation in Afghanistan through use of force during the last 11 years. Now they are talking of initiation of reconciliation process, he added. Normalization can come only in Afghanistan if a national government is established with the participation of all stake holders. The situation could further deteriorate if Afghanistan was left alone without providing it ample financial assistance, he cautioned.
There will be no improvement in relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan as long as US remain present in Afghanistan, he added.
Responding to a question he said anti Pakistan sentiments are proliferating in Afghanistan and this impression was gathering momentum that Pakistan wanted to keep Afghanistan under its sway. Government would have to make it clear that Afghanistan was a sovereign country , he added.
The need is there that leadership of Pakistan and Afghanistan sit together and evolve firm mechanism to improve the situation, he stressed. Online
