ISLAMABAD: Masses are unlikely to get relief as finance ministry is
reluctant to cut oil prices despite Petroleum Ministry’s recommendation
for upto Rs 5.5 per liter reduction in fuel rates, media reported on
Monday.
There was just Rs 1.11 per liter relief likely for the
consumers. Recommendation for Rs4.57 per liter cut in petrol price,
Rs5.85 in high octane, Rs1.6 in kerosene oil, Rs0.25 in high speed
diesel and Rs1.79 in light diesel has been sent to finance ministry in
the wake of recent 5.2% fall in international markets, officials in
petroleum ministry told media.
However, the finance ministry was
unwilling to provide relief to masses intending more hikes in petroleum
levy, leaving the consumers to expect just Rs 1.11 per liter relief.
A final decision in this regard would be taken today (Tuesday). Online
