Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said
that the rulers should be fearful of the day when masses would throw
stones on the parliament house. He strongly berated government for being
deaf and dumb to masses’ problems.
Addressing the house over a point of order on Thursday, he accused incumbents of being solely concerned over their own interests, and strongly criticized them for not taking parliament into confidence over granting the status of MFN (Most Favored Nation) to India; meanwhile PML-N staged walkout protest against the protest staged by the government against opposition outside the Parliament House on Wednesday, non-implementation of the announcements of Prime Minister and against corruption.
The opposition leader resolved not to let the sanctity of the parliament go down and said that the prime minister was misusing the Assembly by creating a new precedence of running NA as his personal bureau office.
He also berated the fact that despite severe paucity of electricity, electricity tariffs were being raised to astronomical heights, and was also chagrined over the fact that it was two months since all leaders of Pakistan had signed the resolution regarding APC and also submitted nominations for the implementation committee, while PPPP still lagged!
He asked from the government why the ordinance was presented in the
house against the authorities handed over to the provinces according to
18th amendment.
The opposition leader also announced that a consensus had been reached between him and the PM regarding appointment of four members for Election Commission, after three days of intensive deliberations.
Strongly berating incumbents’ lethargic and disinterested attitude on matters of national importance, he was critical of the fact that all joint resolutions passed in parliament had been rubbished.
“The government is incurable, and should not expect opposition’s cooperation like before,” he warned.
“We do not want to listen to sweet-nothings (tall claims) of government, and parliamentarians are not mere herd of sheep and goat,” he chastened.
He outlined the need for a PM who should ensure his constant presence in Assembly, rather than just the one who recorded attendance records and left at whim.
Nisar also cited Quranic oaths and declarations of former home minister of Sindh, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza regarding the sovereignty and security of Pakistan, while the same attitude was totally missing from government quarters. SANA
