Hashmi urges resignation from President, PM over memo issue

MULTAN: Senior Vice President of PML (N) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that performance of Pak Army and ISI could be criticized but the matter of memo is as seditious as to talk about disintegrate the country.

He was addressing a press conference at his residence on Saturday. He said that it the need of the time that a special session of parliament should be convened to discuss the issue of memo and its proceeding may be brought in front of nation instead of keeping it in-camera. President and Prime Minister should resign and present themselves for probe. The ambassador could not be made scapegoat alone as he has only a secondary role in entire saga.
“The matter has lot of importance for the future of Pakistan. If prompt action not taken on the matter then the future of the institutions could be jeopardized”, he added.
Responding a question he said he is firmly stuck with his previous stance that neither it is the ISI’s job to operate politics in the country nor they have any right to do so. When in the past government decided to send ISI Chief to Mumbai, PML (N) opposed it.
He said that mid term elections can not prevent senate polls as they would be held at prescribed time. He said that he has not any personal grudge with Shah Mehmood Qureshi. He should join PML (N). He said that he would not leave PML (N) , if Qureshi would join it.
“I am not annoyed with Nawaz Sharif but opposing policies is my basic right and I would continue to use it.”, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi added.
Replying a question he said that Imran Khan is working hard and he respects him. If people are acknowledging his efforts then leaders should also accept the fact by showing broadmindedness that he proved himself as an important political player. Online
