Supreme Court of Pakistan to resume a constitutional petition against levy tax imposed by President Asif Ali Zardari on petroleum products through ordinance today (Monday).
A three-member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry and comprising Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq
Pervaiz would hear the constitutional petition of petitioner Shahid
Orakzai filed under Article 184 of the Constitution regarding imposition
of levy tax by the President.
Court has summoned to Attorney General for Pakistan Maulvi
Anwar-ul-Haq; meanwhile, SC has constituted four benches for hearing of
important cases during commencing week.
The court would hear important cases including NICL scam, illegal
allotment of plots by CDA, Rental power project, suo moto notice against
killing of five persons including young student Shaharyar and petition
of former member National Assembly Marvi Memon regarding breaching of
canals in Sindh during flood of last year.
The first bench of SC is comprising of chief Justice Iftikhar
Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq
Pervaiz, who would hear Constitutional petition regarding Northern Areas
Laws filed by Al-Jihad Trust against Federation of Pakistan through
Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Northern Areas and
Constitutional Petitions Under Article 184 against levy tax imposed by
the President.
Meanwhile this bench would resume NICL scam and Reference regarding
nomination of members of the Commission received from Justice (R) Syed
Jamshed Ali, Former Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chairman,
Commission on Written off Loans.
The second bench of SC is consisting of Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan,
Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, this bench
would hear the case against irregularities in Federal Government
Employes Housing Scheme by the FGEH Foundation today (Monday).
The third bench of apex court is consisting of Justice Tassaduq
Hussain Jillani, Justice Muhammad Sair Ali and Justice Sarmad Jalal
Osmany, whereas the fourth division bench of SC is consist of Justice
Nasir-ul-Mulk and Justice Amir Hani Muslim. SANA
