All Pakistan News Agencies Council (APNAC) has decided to boycott all the ceremonies
of the Punjab government; meanwhile this decision has been made over
the non cooperative behaviour of the Punjab government officials in
professional matters of journalists in Punjab.
All the member organizations of the APNAC would boycott the official
ceremonies and media coverage of the Punjab government from 1st of
November, adding that instead of the repeated reminders the Punjab
government has not improved its behaviour.
The meeting of the All Pakistan Council of News Agencies was held
here in Islamabad and was chaired by Council Chairman and
Editor-in-Chief of Online News Agency Mohsin Baig.
The meeting was attended by Secretary General APNAC, Editor-in-Chief
SANA News Shakeel Ahmed Turabi, Vice President APNAC, Editor-in-Chief
NNI Ammar Yasir, Deputy Editor-in-Chief ANN Umar Farooq, Managing
Director Inter News Services Aslam Khan and Resident Director PPI Adnan
Iftikhar.
The meeting reviewed the professional activities of News Agencies and
their problems including the emerging situation after Supreme Court of
Pakistan verdict on 7th Wage Board Award.
According to the decisions of meeting APNAC all member organizations
would boycott ceremonies of Punjab government as well as press releases of all subordinate institutions of Punjab. Meeting also decided complete boycott of Chief Minister of Punjab and statements, reports of cabinet members. APNAC would not issue any news of provincial government, meeting resolved. SANA
