Peace in Sindh elusive if Karachi continues to burn: Manzoor Wassan

KARACHI: Sindh home minister Manzoor Wassan has said 6 judges have been appointed in Anti Terrorism Courts (ATCs) in pursuance of directives of Supreme Court (SC).

Manzoor Wassan said this while addressing a press conference here Wednesday in his office.
Judges have been appointed out of the names selected by chief justice Sindh, he told. Among them 5 are session judges and one is retired judge, he stated.
There will be no peace in entire Sindh if there is no peace in Karachi, he held. “We have no affiliation with those who are giving statements at individual level. Several people joined party and left it. We have to save this country. As to why love for Sindh had not found way to his heart 3 years back ”, he underlined.
Peace can not prevail in Karachi unless criminals are punished, he said. There should be no gun point politics in the country, he stressed.
He went on to say taking suo motu notice by Supreme Court (SC) on Karachi situation was a good step but situation in Punjab and Balochistan was worse than Karachi. Suo motu notice could be taken on Balochistan and Punjab situation, he added.
Improvement has come in Karachi situation following the operation against criminals therein, he said. When police and rangers were doing their job better then no need should be felt to call in army, he remarked.
Home ministry Sindh issued list of 42 target killers after the press conference of Manzoor Wassan. Party affiliation of 29 accused has not been shown.
Regarding party action against Zulfiqar Mirza, Manzoor Wassan told resignation of Zulfiqar Mirza as minister and vice president of party has been accepted and action has been started against him. Online
