Nation celebrates 65th Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: The 65th Independence Day of the Federation was celebrated with National fervor and exuberance across the Country, while expatriates across the globe shared the joy equally.

The Independence Day Celebrations began with special prayers for the integrity, sovereignty and solidarity of the Federation after Fajr prayers, followed by a 31-cannon salute in the Federal Capitol, while Provincial Capitol Cities of Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar, besides Azad Kashmir offered a 21-cannon salute.
Sirens were sounded at 08.58, after which all traffic ceased and a one-minute silence was observed Special function of change of guard was also held at the Jinnah Mausoleum, while military and civil officials also laid floral wreaths at the tomb, which was participated by a large number of citizens.
President Asif Ali Zardari and PM, Yousaf Raza Gilani offered hearty congratulations to Nation on its 65th Independence Day, in their special messages; while all governmental and private buildings were adorned with lights and flags.

Meanwhile children, old and youth showed a thrilling exuberance and joy, whence thousands of youth made an international record by singing The National Anthem in unison. Youth in Islamabad danced on the roads to showcase their emotions, while youth in Quetta were no less far behind in their enthusiasm.
Rallies were also taken out, while Pakistani Nation pledged to play their due roles in progress and development of The Federation, and ensure elimination of scourge of terrorism from Country, ushering in peace and harmony. Online
