4 killed as heavy rain hits country

Islamabad: At least four people have been killed as rainwater accumulated at low lying areas in Lahore, Peshawar and Rawalpindi after heavy shower on Monday.

According to MET office, 85 mm rain was recorded in Islamabad where water penetrated into basement of Supreme Court and Parliament house while meetings of standing committee have been canceled. Rain water at Constitution avenue stranded many federal minister along with other several vehicles.
Nalla Lai in twin city of Rawalpindi swelled uo by 5 feet while rainwater accumulated at low lying areas of the city.
Heavy rain hit Lahore where 130 mm rain recorded and its suburbs on Monday morning which gave relief to the citizens from hot and humid weather. However, rainwater accumulated in the low lying areas. The heavy showers also created traffic problems in the city as roads submerged under water after the rain.
Peshawar also received heavy rains and water accumulated in some areas. The rain has broken the intensity of hot weather.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the recent rain spell will continue for the next six to seven days. Online
