Nawaz Sharif elected PML-N President unopposed

The Central Working Committee of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) elected Nawaz Sharif as its president here on Wednesday as no other member of the party filed papers against him; meanwhile the name of Nawaz Sharif for the president of the party was proposed by Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.

Former secretary general of the party Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra announced the results of the elections; Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq administered the oath of office of the president from Mian Nawaz Sharif; meanwhile Mian Nawaz Sharif has been elected party president for the period of four years.
Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq was elected as the Chairman of the PML-N, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi as Senor Vice President of the party; meanwhile the name of Javed Hashmi was proposed by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and was rectified by Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal.
Sartaj Aziz, Sardar Yaqoob Nasir, Sardar Sikandar Haayt Khan, Syed Ghaus Ali Shah were elected as senior vice presidents of the party; meanwhile Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal elected as Deputy Secretary General of the party, Senator Mushaidullah Khan was elected as Secretary Information; meanwhile Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan as Deputy Secretary Information, Sardar Ayarz Sadiq was elected as the Finance Secretary of the party. Mian Nawaz Sharif administered the oath to the office bearers of the party; meanwhile the party’s central working committee has rectified the decisions of the election commission of the party.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the party leaders have elected Nawaz as the party leader, adding that I am the servant of the Punjab people and I am happy over this post.
Addressing the convention Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said that I am the worker of PML-N and would remain the worker of PML-N, adding that I have no need of any office.
He said that the party Quaid rejected my request and has appointed me party’s senior vice president, adding that I had been used to differentiate with the leadership over some issues in the past and would continue differentiating over issues in future also.
Over 2200 members of the Central Working Committee of the party from the country participated in the convention, which was held at the convention centre here in Islamabad.
After the election of Mian Nawaz Sharif as President of the party the workers of party celebrated the election and danced on the beat of the drum.
Addressing the convention Mian Nawaz Sharif said that his party would foil the heinous designs of the rulers aimed at looting the masses money.
He said that his party could not keep mum over the corruption of billions of rupees, adding that the judiciary was not made independent to allow the government to defy the orders.
He said that he had lead the long march by staking his life, adding the long march was for the independence of the judiciary and not for the reinstatement of few judges.
He said that the differences of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi over different issues were very dear to him.
He said that today is the day of victory of the democracy, adding that Musharraf has created fake Muslim league and thought that this is the real Muslim league and PML-N has been ended. He said that he would play his role to build the country. He said he would have made Pakistan Asian tiger had his governments not been toppled.
Meanwhile President Asif Ali Zardari felicitated Mian Nawaz Sharif over his election as the party president, adding that that he is hopeful that Nawaz Sharif would continue playing his role for the strengthening of democracy in the country.
President Zardari said that the PML-N would render positive services for the democracy of the country, supremacy of the parliament, rule of law and also would promote national reconciliation in the country, adding that the unopposed election of Nawaz shows the confidence of PML-N over the leadership of Nawaz.
Meanwhile MQM Chief Altaf Hussain also felicitated the PML-N President Nawaz Sharif over election, adding that he is hopeful that PML-N would work for the strengthening of democracy in the country. SANA
