The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday submitted applications for Senators and National Assembly members in the respective secretariats to be allocated seats on the opposition benches.
In NA Haider Abbas Rizvi and Senator Tahir Mashhadi submitted applications respectively in the NA and Senate Secretariats.
Senator Mashhadi said that his party’s decision is final to separate from the government as coalition partner.
While talking to media outside the NA after submitting an
application in NA, Haider Abbas Rizvi, said that his party is a part of
the opposition. “Our party will play a strong role from opposition
benches,” he said.
He said that his party wanted good relations with all parties. “We are not satisfied with government’s policies,” he added.
Rizvi pointed out that MQM will strengthen the opposition, adding
that MQM has always tried to maintain good relations with other
political parties and accepted the mandate in 2008. He, however, said
no decision have been made to support any political party.
It is worth mentioning here that MQM has the strength of 25 MNAs and
six Senators; meanwhile Secretary National Assembly Karamat Hussain
Niazi has informed the speaker NA Dr Fehmida Mirza regarding the
application of MQM for allotment of seats on opposition benches. SANA
