Parliamentary body directs IP to continues Saleem Shahzad murder probe

Standing Committee of National Assembly on Human Rights directed Islamabad police that investigation and search for criminals should be continued in the slain Saleem Shahzad murder case and committee directed district officers of interior ministry to sent letters about the security of journalists.

Standing Committee formulated a fact-finding commission in the chairpersonship of political adviser of President Asif Ali Zardari about the killings of firing in the result of police firing in Hazara movement and Federal Secretary for Human Rights and Chairman Human Rights Commission Pakistan.
Chairman Committee Riaz Fatyana chaired the meeting of Standing Committee on Human Rights in Parliament House on Wednesday.
Commissioner Hazara Division would help to gather the facts and would meet effected families and committee also directed to make possible the payment in one month to effected families in Margla air crash.
SSP Islamabad told that Saleem Shahzad was died because his lungs and liver stopped working and his bones were broken.
Chairman of the Committee directed that formulation of commission does not means that police stops its investigation, adding that police should continue its efforts to bring criminals into the court of justice and development should be shared with Assembly.
Committee directed to provide security to journalists of the country, directed to eliminate the special counters on airports for parliamentarians and stated that these types of counters should be established for old citizens and special (disabled) persons.
Officials of Revenue Department of Punjab confessed that without discrimination all MNAs were not included in the monitoring committees of five marla scheme in the province and deadline was also not given for application in the advertisement and committee sought report Tehsil vise about monitoring companies and details of allotment of plots.
Revenue department officials also confessed that some non-deserving persons got plots in five marla scheme and investigations are underway.
Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assured standing committee that committee’s suggestions would be implemented and committee would visit Abbottabad and committee directed Defence Ministry to provide DNA reports to families of died people in the air crash.
Additional Secretary Defence Ministry said that report would be submitted to committee after submission to Prime Minister and report would be also sent to international organizations.
Standing Committee stated police report about Kharotabad incident is a host of contradictions and a special committee has been constituted comprising Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Dr Attia Anyat Ullah, Ghulam Dastagir and Farha Naz Isfahhani regarding the matter, which will submit its report to central committee and committee directed Foreign Ministry to seek record of foreign killed persons in Kharotabad incident from their countries.
