8 injured in Multan bomb blast on police check post

At least eight persons including four police personnel were wounded in a motorcycle bomb blast at Gaddafi Police Check Post here on Sunday.

Police arrested a person in the injured condition from the scene. Police officials confirmed that no one was killed in the explosion and target was police check post but after the blast five dangerous criminals kept at the police check post managed to escape.
CPO Amir Zulfiqar told media that blast took place because of planted bomb in motorcycle and three police personnel were injured but no clue was found about the suicide attack.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after the attack, security forces corned off the area and injured were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital and emergency has been declared in the hospitals of the city after the blast.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the terrorist act of bomb blast in Multan terming it as a cowardly act of sick mindset, adding that the terrorists are targeting police stations to create panic and fear among the innocent citizens in cities.
The Prime Minster said the government and people of Pakistan are determined to fight terrorism and eliminate such elements who want to create instability and spoil the image of the country.
The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to take care of injured and to ensure proper medical care.
He also directed the security agencies to act appropriately in all cities and towns to prevent any possible act of terror through vigilance and intelligence sharing. SANA
