ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari underlined that Pakistan has played a
significant role in efforts to eliminate terrorism and reiterated that we will
continue to support international efforts against terrorism till the complete
elimination of this menace.
He expressed these views during a meeting with U.S. Special Representative
for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Marc Grossman on Tuesday at the
Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Briefing journalists about the meeting, Spokesperson to the President Mr.
Farhatullah Babar said that matters regarding fight against militancy and the
recent development besides Pak- US bilateral relations , strategic dialogues,
today’s round of Pak- US – Afghanistan tripartite talks and emerging situation
in Afghanistan were discussed during the meeting.
The President said that Pakistan has played a significant role in efforts to
eliminate terrorism and reiterated that we will continue to support
international efforts against terrorism till the complete elimination of this
menace.
Ambassador Marc Grossman appreciated Pakistan’s contributions in taking out
the militant threat.
The President said that Pakistan was an important regional player due to its
geo-strategic location and has always worked for promoting regional stability
and peace. He said that Pakistan has abiding interest in the peace and
prosperous Afghanistan and will continue to support efforts to bring in peace
and socio-economic prosperity in the neighboring country as any development in
Afghanistan directly impacts Pakistan. He said that Pakistan supports Afghan-led
peace process.

Interior Minister, Mr. M. Salman Faruqui, Secretary General, Senator Syeda
Sughra Imam, Ms Farahnaz Ispahani, MNA, Malik Asif Hayat, Secretary to
