ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement has agreed to join the federal cabinet
and would be given four ministries.
To this effect, a delegation of MQM led by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad Khan called on Co-Chairman PPP President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
Members of the delegation included Dr. Farooq Sattar , Senator Babar Khan Ghauri, Dr. Saghir, Mr. Waseem Aftab and Mr. Adil Siddiqui. Senator A. Rehman Malik, Minister for Interior and Spokesperson to the President Mr. Farhatullah Babar were also present during the meeting.
Maters regarding law & order situation in Sindh province particularly in Karachi and coalition matters in Sindh were discussed during the meeting.
The MQM delegation also discussed the current economic situation and made some suggestions for the upcoming budget and to address the critical economic issues in the country.
The President condoled with the MQM delegation the death of MQM leader and former MPA Liaquat Qureshi and other party activists assuring that perpetrators of the crime would be taken to custody and brought to justice.
The delegation also raised some issues regarding coalition government in Sindh.
Co-chairman PPP President Zardari said that PPP firmly believes in taking along all allies and coalition partners and assured the MQM delegation that their concerns regarding collation government in Sindh will be duly addressed.
The delegation assured the Co-Chairman PPP that as coalition partner the MQM will continue to support the government with a view to addressing the problems facing the country.
According to Online, President said that MQM is a key ally in our coalition government adding it has always worked in the national interest of the government.
He said that whenever we needed MQM it has come to support us.
President chalked out all reservations of the MQM adding they will be given four important ministries in the Federal Cabinet. The Ministries include Ports and Shipping, Information Technology. The final shape will be made on the return of PM Gilani from France after four days.
PPP believes in politics of reconciliation rather than confrontation, he stressed.
