No case in world treated as ZAB case: CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD : Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said during the hearing of presidential reference that any case of the world did not treated as Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case was treated, adding that we are hearing this case to compensate injustice of marshal-law era.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry headed the 11-member larger bench on Wednesday.
Counsel for federation Babar Awan argued in SC that if ZA Bhutto accepts all allegations leveled against him then he should not be sentenced to death. Babar Awan argued that case of ZA Bhutto is a case of different nature, adding that if there is any other case like this then that also should be reviewed.
He argued that court may order to open all cases of marshal law era, adding that judiciary’s decision in Bhutto case is violation of basic rights and against the constitution.
He further argued that international pressure was also there as Bhutto writes in his book that Henry Kissinger threatened him to make a terrible example.
During the course of hearing Justice Nasirul Mulk asked Babar Awan that does he wanted that court may take Bhutto case judgment back.
Babar Awan replied that he did not want this and court asked to describe their desire in simple words.
Counsel of the federation Babar Awan will continue his arguments today (Thursday).
The eleven member larger bench of the Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of Presidential Reference for revisiting of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case till today (Thursday).
Talking to the media persons after hearing of the case, PPP leader Raja Parvez Ashraf said that the judges were biased against Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and due course of law was not followed in his case.
He said that injustice was done to the Shaheed leader and President Asif Ali Zardari has filed this reference to correct the historic mistake. SANA
