Nawaz Sharif asks Govt. to set up judicial commission headed by CJ to probe Abbotabad incident

ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz rejected the committee announced by Prime Minister headed by Gen Javed Iqbal for probing the Abbotabad incident, in which the US forces had killed Osama bin Laden.

Addressing a press conference here Wednesday in Punjab House after a two day discussion session of his party over the Abbottabad incident, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that the Judicial Commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising chief justices of the Islamabad, Lahore, Sindh, Balochistan and Peshawar High Courts should be formed within three days.
Nawaz Sharif said the commission should submit its investigation report within 21 working days, adding that the commission should have the full authority to summon any person.
He said that the secret agencies spy politicians but why these agencies were unaware of the bin Laden presence amid their safe locations.
If government delayed the formation of the commission then the PML-N would announce its next course of action after the expiry of the deadline.
He said that country is facing the same scenario as of 1971 and the only difference is that World opinion was divided back then but today no country except China is standing with Pakistan.
Sharif strongly criticized President Asif Zardari saying he has time to write for the Washington Post but avoided own fellow countrymen. Nawaz revised his view point that President Zardari is a threat to the democracy in this country.
He said that I have no knowledge about the reality of the allegations of Rehman Malik about Osama links with PML-N, adding that the members of the PML-N would reply in the parliament.
Nawaz said we can’t allow any country to violate Pakistani sovereignty and integrity to achieve its targets by using our soil in a unilateral manner.
He said that the nation should be taken into confidence regarding the Abbotabad incident and unfortunately all the facts are emerging from US and our civil and military institutions have failed to explain the facts to the nation about this operation.
Nawaz said that the US commanders and helicopters were present on Pakistani soil for almost two hours and yet our security agencies failed to track them. Nawaz termed this as a failure of our defense system.
Nawaz said this incident of negligence can’t be ignored and we have to find the motives of this action seriously. Nawaz said this incident is producing many questions even in the minds of military personnel and it has affected the morale of the Pak Armed forces.
He said that the problems could not be solved by leveling allegations against others but we have to take stock of the whole situation honestly.
He said that I am the friend of Pakistan and we have no tensions with any institution of the country and if any one gets angry with our demand of rule of law in the country it is not our concern.
He said that speeches of Prime Minister Gilani and Rehman Malik were shown live on the PTV, adding that the speech of the Opposing Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was not shown on PTV, which is regrettable.
He said that there is no room for terrorism and extremism in the country. SANA
