ISLAMABAD — The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman says he accepts
Shahid Afridi's decision to quit international cricket and has given
the World Cup captain a week to respond to a code of conduct charge.
Ijaz Butt says on Tuesday that Afridi "is welcome if he does not want to play."
Afridi,
who has represented Pakistan since 1996, announced his retirement from
international cricket on Monday in protest at the PCB setup. He added
he could reverse his decision if the setup is changed.
Butt
removed Afridi as Pakistan's one-day captain after the enigmatic
allrounder criticized the team management on his return home from West
Indies. Afridi was selected for the two recent ODIs against Ireland but
pulled out due to his father being ill. AP
