250 Pakistani troops arrive from UN mission in Congo

A batch of 250 Pakistani troops arrived here on Tuesday after performing peace-keeping duties under the aegis of the United Nations Mission in Congo. According to a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) here on Tuesday, Brigadier Muhammad Zahid welcomed the troops at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
The troops have been replaced by another Pakistan army contingent in Congo as part of relieve and rotation schedule.
The Pakistani peace-keepers have been serving in the war-ravaged African country since the last three years and these troops are deployed in the most turbulent part of the country.
Pakistani troops have earned laurels for successfully disengaging some of the combatants through peaceful dialogue.
They have also helped in relief and repatriation of a large number of refugees by supporting the execution of a UN sponsored rehabilitation programme. APP
