Supreme Court 11 members bench constituted to take up Bhutto's Reference


ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted an eleven-member larger bench to take up Presidential Reference on May 2 which has been sent to it under Article 186 of the Constitution, seeking its opinion over murder of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the country's first elected prime minister.


The eleven-member bench comprises the Chief Justice, Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Justice Muhammad Sair Ali, Justice Mahmood Akhtar Shahid Siddiqui, Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Sarmand Jalal Osmany and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.

The bench will hear Reference No 01/2011, received from the President, Islamic Republic of Pakistan under Article 186 of the Constitution for revisiting the case of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto reported as PLD 1979 SC pages 38-53. APP
