Memogate case: Govt submits rejoinder to Supreme Court

Islamabad: The government on Monday submitted its rejoinder to the Supreme Court of Pakistan over Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, ISI chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Mansoor Ijaz’s sworn affidavits into memogate case.

Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq on behalf of the Interior Ministry submitted the 18-page rejoinder with SC. The governmnet has termed memo as pile of lies. The government said that Mansoor Ijaz tried to pit Pakistan’s institution against each other, adding that governmnet didn’t not take resignation from Hussain Haqqani instead he himself tendered his resignation.
It said Haqqani had said in letter to the president written on December 16 that he wanted to resign from the post in the national interest.
The interior ministry said that the prime minister and the president had denied any links with the content of the alleged memo. It added that there was no security threat to the country due to a piece of paper(memo).
The army chief and ISI chief had in their depositions called for thorough investigation into the memogate. They had said that the memogate was a threat to national security. Online
