Afaq Ahmed released after seven years detention

The Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi) Chairman Afaq Ahmed was released from the Central Jail Malir on Saturday after the long detention of seven years.

A large number of MQM Haqqiqi workers were present outside the central jail on the occasion of Afaq Ahmed release; meanwhile he was taken to his residence in from of convoy and went to the martyrs’ graveyard to offer Fateha over the grave of his father.
Nearly 15 vehicles of security and 100 personnel have been deployed on the security of Afaq Ahmed; meanwhile he was taken to his home situated at the Landhi 6 number.
District and Session Judge Malir Munawar Sultana issued orders on Saturday for the release of Afaq Ahmed from Landhi District jail where he was detained for 30 days on Sindh government’s orders. Afaq has been in jail since 2004 facing various cases.
Sindh High Court chief justice Mushir Alam Khan on Friday declared the detention of Afaq Ahmed as null and void under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and immediately ordered his release. Currently he was facing charges of murdering Farooq Baig.   SANA
