ISLAMABAD: Head of PML-N Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that President
Asif Ali Zardari is proving to be a threat to democracy and due to ill
policies of government we are being isolated internationally.
“Pakistan
is facing multiple external and internal challenges while the Federal
government has taken no measures to counter these challenges. The
country is weakening day by day and we are being isolated at the
international level”, Nawaz Sharif said while addressing the PML-N
Central Working Committee meeting held in Punjab House on Monday.
The
meeting was held to discuss current political situation, economic
condition, implementation of decisions of the recently held All Parties
Conference (APC), uncontrolled inflation, worsening electricity
shortfall and the party future strategy.
He said that despite
making immense sacrifices in the war against terror we are being
condoned and criticised. The investors are hesitant to invest in the
country while the domestic investors are also moving their businesses
out from the country. Such a scenario has become a grave concern.
Criticising
the manner in which the government is running the helms of affairs,
Nawaz Sharif said the government has not taken the Parliament or the
Public into confidence on any matter. The resolutions passed by the
parliament on the Abbottabad operation have not been implemented and
neither any opposition leader have been consulted. The manner in which
the government is running the state affairs is a bad mark on democracy.
“President Zardari is proving to be a threat to democracy, as I predicted a few years back”, Nawaz said.
The current challenges facing the country can only be solved by the leadership.
“In
a country where Parliament’s recommendations are ignored than only God
can save it”, he lamented. He said that the fate of the country is
being decided by two men and they are imposing their decisions on the
entire country. No one is taking measures to unite the country.
President
Zardari has written flattery articles in US newspapers than why
shouldn’t US pressurise us. Today we are in this mess due to the ill
policies of the government.
Sindh is suffering due to floods
and immediately the government appealed for international aid. The
government record is not good than why should the international give us
aid. The foreign aid is being used by rulers for their lavishness and
personal purposes. Nearly twelve billion dollars have been used for
corruption. The people have stopped trusting the government.
Nawaz
further said that in a country where the judiciary decisions are
ridiculed justice cannot prevail. The court punishes an individual and
the very next day President Zardari pardons him. Corrupt ministers are
being imposed on the public.
Joining hands with the public in
protest against increased load shedding the country, he said that the
country is facing worst form of load shedding, thousands of industries
have been shut, scores of people have become unemployed and the ship
ordered by the government from abroad for power production is standing
docked at Karachi for past one year and has not been made operational.
He said that the people of this country while the government is busy in
extravagances.
He said that govt is inept to counter any
challenges everyday the rates of electricity and petrol are increased
due to which inflation is increasing. He said that when he was PM
Pakistan was indebt of only RS 3 trillion and now our foreign loans
have exceeded RS 8 trillion.
He said that the federal govt is
being run on commission and worst form of corruption and embezzlements
are taking place, We have to decide today to stop the government form
their tactics. They have made Pakistan a beggar in front of the world.
We are placing our gold old friend China in a spot we have to
introspect and see who is responsible for this destruction.
Announcing
that he would visit Balochistan in a couple of days, Nawaz Shari
further said that his heart bleeds to see the situation in Balochistan.
He said that it is injustice that the dissident Baloch members were not
invited to the APC. He said that the missing persons should be
recovered and their cases pending in courts should be decided so that
their heirs or families get some relief. Online
