14 KP MPAs, 3 minister lose assembly seats for not revealing assets

Peshawar: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 14 MPAs including three provincial ministers belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on not submitting the declaration of assets.

The ECP had asked all the members of parliament and member of provincial assemblies to submit details of their assets by 30 September to the commission. In this regard ECP has also constituted special monitoring cells not only in Islamabad but also at all the four provincial capitals.
Some 114 Members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly included three provincial ministers did not put forward the declaration of assets on due dates.
The Chief Election Commissioner took severe notice and instructed to suspend their membership from the provincial assembly. ECP would send the list of affected MPAs to Provincial Speaker today (Tuesday). However when contacted the provincial election commission, the officials said that they did not know the real position in this connection because all the decisions regarding membership are made at HQ ECP Islamabad.
