PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar
said that the concept that prisoners should become useful and
productive members of society after their release has become well
acknowledged world over.
Talking to prisoners during his visit
to Central Prison, Peshawar on Eid Day the Governor Barrister Masood
Kausar further stated that fortunately, we are engaged in the struggle
for well being of the people in a democratic environment and there is a
need that the inmates of prisons, no matter whatever nature of their
crimes have pushed them behind the bars, should willingly come forward
and rebuild their lives on constructive lines.
Simultaneously,
he added, they should also make best use of the available facilities of
vocational training being offered to them within the premises of
prisons. “Your aim should be to initiate a new life, as and when you
come out the prisons”, he added.
He added that like aware
societies elsewhere, hectic efforts are also underway to develop the
prisons in line with the present day needs and introduce reforms
therein in our motherland too.
Barrister Masood Kausar spent a
busy day on the Eid Day and besides the Central Prison, Peshawar he
also went to Hayatabad Medical Complex where he enquired after the
health of the patients. During his visit to the Central Prison, the
Governor went to ladies barracks; gave away gifts, sweets and toys to
the minor children lodged with their mothers.
He also listened
to the problems and grievances of the prisoners; received applications
and assured to take necessary steps for their resolution. Responding to
a particular grievance with regard to the remissions, announced by the
provincial as well as the Federal governments from time to time, the
Governor assured the prisoners to take up their requests at the
respective level and resolve their grievances in this respect.
Talking
on a request put forward by the prisoners, hailing from FATA, the
Governor also referred to the recently enacted reforms oriented
regulations in FATA and said that a pleasant change is in the offing in
FATA which would also lead to prove a big step to resolve the
grievances of the prisoners from FATA. However, he assured them to look
into their grievances and take up their case at the Federal level to
resolve their grievances.
Later on during his visit to the
Hayatabad Medical Complex, the Governor went to different wards and
