At least 10 dead in Eid 2nd day of violence in KP

PESHAWAR: Separate incidents of violence Thursday, the 2nd day of Eid, claimed the lives of at least 10 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, authorities said.

In the first, which occurred near a police station in Lakki Marwat district, a suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into a police station in Peezo area of Lucky Marwat this day, leaving 4 persons dead and 22 injured.
Many neighboring buildings and shops were also damaged severely along with the police station in the powerful blast.
The local people and authorities rushed to the blast site and moved the dead bodies and injured to hospital while heavy contingents of the police reached on the scene and cordoned off the area.
According to government sources, after deadly blast the authorities imposed curfew in Tank this day.
No group had yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
In the other incident, which occurred in the Parachinar district in the Kurram tribal agency, seven passengers in a vehicle were shot and killed by gunmen who opened fire on their vehicle. Six of the victims were all members of one family.
The vehicle was traveling from the Alizai area to Parachinar when it was attacked. The report said four died at the scene and the other three at a hospital.
Another passenger was reported in critical condition.
Other details of the attack, including the reason for the attack, were not immediately known.
Meanwhile At least three dozens of shops were torched as blaze engulfed a market in Khyber Agency’s tehsil of Landi Kotal early Thursday morning.
According to sources, the fire triggered by short circuit at a shop in Rangar market encircled the entire market within no time.
According to eyewitnesses, over 36 shops were gutted in the raging fire as fire brigade could not reach the blaze site on time.
The nearby houses were evacuated for fear of approaching fire.
