Eid celebrated with religious fervour

ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on Wednesday with religious enthusiasm and fervor across Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Eid prayers offered at Eidgahs, mosques all over the country. In their sermons, Ulema highlighted the philosophy of Eid and prayed for progress and solidarity of the country and Muslim Ummah.
More than 300 Eid congregations took place in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
In Islamabad, the largest Eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque and in Rawalpindi the largest Eid congregation was held at Eid Gah and Liaqat Bagh while the same was observed at Badshahi mosque and Memon mosque in Lahore and Karachi respectively.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani offered Eid ul Fitr prayers at Faisal Mosque along with the officers and staff of the Prime Minister House. President Asif Ali Zaradri celebrated Eid in China
Some other leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party, and former federal ministers including Babar Awan and Pervaiz Ashraf were also present on this occasion while a large number of people from different parts of the federal government especially came to the Faisal Mosque to offer their Eid prayers.
The Prime Minister offered special prayers for peace, prosperity, progress and solidarity of the country courage to the leadership to face the challenges being faced by the country.
The Prime Minister exchanged Eid greetings with the people who also offered Eid prayers at the Faisal Mosque.
In Karachi, main Eid congregations were held at Memon mosque, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Nishtar Park, National stadium and other small and large places and mosques.
Special prayers were also offered for the solidarity, prosperity and progress of the country and over all progress of Muslim Ummah.
Meanwhile a number of people from different walks of life including federal ministers, members of the parliament, business community, leaders and workers of Pakistan Peoples Party, senior government officials, heads of various government departments and organizations also visited Prime Minister House to extend Eid greetings to Prime Minister on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.
A reception was also held at the Prime Minister House in hounour of the guests who visited to greet Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister later mixed up with the guests and exchange pleasantries with them on this occasion.
Meanwhile foolproof security measures were adopted on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Policemen were deputed outside the bazaars, shopping centres and sensitive public and private buildings.
