Torrential rains kill 16 in Sindh


KARACHI: Torrential rains played havoc in Sindh as hundreds of houses collapsed, many localities submerged.

At least 16 people have been reported to be killed and many others have been injured as it rained cats and dogs in Sindh.
Six people of a family died and six were injured as roof of their house tumbled in Mirpur Khas.
According to police, roof of the two-storey building collapsed due to torrential rain in Bhan Singh Abad area of Mir Pur Khas burying ten persons of the family under the rubble. Soon after the incident the Rescue teams rushed at the site and retrieved six dead bodies from the rubble and four injured persons.
The Mirpur Khas district coordination officer said that Rs 100,000 would be given to heirs of the deceased.
Torrential rain brought great destruction in Tandu Allah Yar and surrounding areas, leaving 6 people dead and 15 injured. The district administration has declared emergency in the district.
Thousands acres of cotton and sugar cane crops have also been destroyed as water inundated the fields.
The 200 millimeters of rain flooded more than 25 oil and gas fields in Badin.
The roofs collapse claimed two lives in Digree and Tandu Muhammad Jam.
A flood wave swept away two people in Pangrew where a 200 feet breech occurred in a brook.
