Pakistan has admitted having operational-level difficulties in bilateral ties with the United States, and said that it has been working with Washington at every level to 'sort them out'.
"The Foreign Minister in her last meeting press briefing...had said the Pakistan and the United States have strategic convergence.
There are certain issues in which may have run into difficulties at the operational level. These difficulties at the operational level are being discussed and sorted out," Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua said during a press briefing.
When asked to comment on US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland's recent statement about Pakistan's responsibility to assist and protect US diplomats posted there, Janjua said: "The Foreign Minister [Hina Rabbani Khar] had also responded on a question relating to the movement of diplomats that there are certain rules and procedures, which apply to all diplomats in Pakistan. These are not specific to any one country."
The Foreign Office spokesperson was also asked whether there were any fresh calls on Pakistan from the US for launching military operations in the tribal areas.
"Pakistan undertakes all its military operations and activities, especially with regard to countering terrorism in its national interest. It is in Pakistan's national interest to fight terrorism. This is essential for peace and development in the country. Any action that will be taken for countering terrorism and fighting militancy will be done in the context of our own national interests and operational requirements," she replied. (ANI)
