ISLAMABAD: Litigation in Senate of Pakistan has reached its peak
amid the reports that senate secretariat has challenged reinstatement
of G.M. Chaudhry as Additional Secretary in Supreme Court (SC).
On the other hand, G.M. Chaudhry has challenged extension in service to secretary senate in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
It
has also been learnt that the Superintendent senate secretariat has
challenged employment period of the employees, who are working in
senate on deputation in IHC.
Illegal appointment of a senior reporter Muhammad Nawaz as chief reporter has been challenged in SC.
Well
placed sources told that senate secretariat has sent a summary to Law
Ministry to solicit opinion about reinstatement of GM Chaudhry as
additional secretary. He got opinion in his favour through personal
influence and his reinstatement has been challenged in SC.
Former
Law Minister, Farooq H Naik appointed GM Chaudhry as additional
secretary in senate secretariat when he assumed office of the chairman
senate.
Sources told that GM Chaudhry had developed differences
with sitting senate secretary Raja Muhammad Amin in connection with
office affairs. The reason behind these differences is that GM Chaudhry
had challenged promotions of Raja Muhammad Amin as secretary, Iftikhar
Ullah Babar as special secretary and Amjad Parvez as additional
secretary Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench as they did not meet the
necessary conditions.
Sources told senior administration of
senate was opposed to reinstatement of G M Chaudhry because in the
event of his reinstatement, secretary senate Raja Muhammad Amin who has
already been granted extension in service after retirement can not be
given further extension.
Therefore, the Senate staff by keeping
in view the litigation incidents in the Senate Secretariat, appealed to
the Senate Chairman to take strict action against the high ups in the
senate secretariat to resolve the differences in the office despite
approaching courts. Online
