PML-N lawmaker criticizes army for expressing concerns over Karachi unrest

ISLAMABAD: Members of National Assembly have expressed concerns over the burning, bloody crisis of Karachi, declaring that eking out political mileages over deadbodies of innocent citizens was being shamelessly carried out.

Debating the law and order situation of Karachi and Quetta in N.A on Tuesday, PML-N’s Ayaz Amir said that a tirade of irresponsible, and imprudent statements delivered in House had heated the already simmering political temperature of Karachi, while even the irrelevant institutions like Army had a chance to comment on the issue of Karachi with impunity.
He laid the entire responsibility of Karachi crisis on warring adversaries, MQM and PPPP, and said that Army should not be allowed any chance to be forced to comment on National issues.
“ But only if the government was carrying out is responsibilities with due care and prudence, the Corps commanders’ meeting might have not required to comment on the Karachi crisis”, he bemoaned.
Fauzia Wahab expressed that Karachi crisis was an open indication of divisions and chaos within and among political forces themselves, while endangering and imperiling lives of innocent patriotic citizens. She stressed on ending this division and chaos among and within political forces for returning to normalcy.
ANP’s Jamila Durrani reasoned that bloody murder and gore was nevertheless not the solution to any crisis, as 350 have been killed in July, and stressed that unless Karachi’s political forces considered/accepted ground realities, any political solution of crisis was impossible.
PML-Q’s, Ameer Muqam wanted a military operation like that of Malakand and Swat to restore peace in Karachi, expressing his chagrin over dual system of governance in a metropolis, which was heart of Pakistan, where peace was imperative. He accused PPPP, MQM and ANP for their equal share in rekindling the flame of hatred and fire in Karachi, and also wanted resumption of LB government in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, where ‘it was much needed’. He said that Karachi did not need any ordinance, but an operation, as any ordinance should be promulgated in entire Country.
PPPP’s Syed Nasir Ali Shah was chagrined over the fact that nobody had debated about Quetta. He was especially critical of PM’s totally ignoring the issue of Balochistan, where FC troops gleefully fired out at five foriegners, but had never attempted any action on any criminal.
He also stressed on immediate resignation of PM, over his failure to restrain control over crisis and give chance to other seniors to come forward.
PML-N’s Gen (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch said that so far not a single culprit had been arrested or killed, while all innocent citizens were being targeted for God knows what reason.
He demanded that interior minister Rehman Malik should inform as to which parts of Balochistan he had visited during the past three years.
Taking part in debate PML-N’s Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said that he was subject to his party discipline over all issues including that of carving out new provinces; but had nevertheless advised his party to initiate the division of Punjab on administrative basis, assuring that any province would be carved out with due consensus.
