Terror bid foiled in Karachi

The Police, with the assistance of Bomb Disposal Squad (DMS), defused 30 kg explosive material found in a residential colony near Jinnah Hospital and foiled the terror bid to target the Juma prayers participants.

“At least two detonators with remote control mechanism fitted with explosive material were found,” a police official told media persons at the site where bomb was defused.
The explosive material was concealed in plastic bags and placed at the site where Friday prayers are regularly held, he added.
Acting CCPO, Karachi Iqbal Mehmood told the media that the bomb was remote-controlled. As strict security measures have been ordered for Friday prayers, that is why they were able to detect the presence of explosives, CCPO said.
Talking to the media, Karachi Chief Capital Police Officer (CCPO) Iqbal Mehmood said that a remote-controlled bomb, weighing 15-20 kilogramme, was planted in residential colony of the Jinnah Hospital, adding that the police have started investigations. SANA
