The LHC has accepted a petition, seeking implementation on parliament’s joint resolution.
Petitioner, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Amir Jamaat ud Dawwa, filed a
petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC), maintaining that parliament
passed a joint resolution on May 14 against the US drone strikes in the
Pakistani tribal areas.
The resolution also stated that Pakistan would cease NATO supplies, if drone attacks were not stopped. The petitioner said that despite the fact that the drone strikes were not stopped, Pakistan did not block NATO supplies, which was against the sanctity of parliament and a violation of the constitution.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed accepted the petition for hearing and summoned the Attorney General of Pakistan with a reply in 10 days.
The court remarked that it was the responsibility of the state to inform the citizens if the national sovereignty had been damaged, adding that if there was a backdoor agreement on drone attacks, it should be made public. SANA
