Supreme Court directs secretary establishment to notify retransfer of Asghar in FIA

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has directed secretary establishment to issue notification of retransfer of IG Gilgit and Baltistan Hussain Asghar in FIA within two weeks.
These directives were issued by a 5-member SC bench presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry during the course of hearing of Hajj corruption case.

The court while expressing dissatisfaction over FIA report said no progress was being made in this case only due to the reason that Hussain Asghar was removed from investigation process in this case.

At the inception of hearing secretary establishment Rauf Chaudhry told the court Javed Bokhari had been removed as deputy director ANF and has been appointed as OSD.

CJP inquired from director Legal FIA Azam Khan what action had been taken so far against Shagufta Jamani.

Azam Khan told the court no recovery had been made so far in this case.

CJP remarked “DG FIA has also interfered in this case. Case has not been allowed to move forward. This all was done deliberately”.

Azam Khan submitted “ DG FIA had said in his reply he did not know about this case as he had assumed the charge one day before and he had not transferred Hussain Asghar and Javed Bokhari deliberately.

Regarding transfer of Hussain Asghar the CJP while addressing DG FIA said “ you deliberately wrote to establishment division that his services were available for the post of IG Baltistan. On the other hand he could write that SC had appointed him investigation officer in Hajj corruption case.

CJP said if Hussain Asghar could not be transferred back to FIA then additional responsibilities of Hajj corruption inquiry be assigned to him.

Secretary establishment Rauf Chaudhry presented copy of notification about transfer of Hussain Asghar.

When the court issued directives to him about transfer of Hussain Asghar, secretary establishment told he would inform the court after contacting the competent authority in this regard.

The court while adjourning the hearing directed that report be presented within two weeks. Online
