The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force would continue to work with the Afghan government to reduce civilian casualties during counter-terrorism operations, the White House said.
"We will continue to do everything we can to reduce civilian casualties, working with (the Afghan) President (Hamid) Karzai, working with Afghan forces, as we continue this important mission," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters at his daily news conference.
"We regret greatly the loss of life and especially any civilian casualties. I think over the past year, this administration, working with the military has taken extraordinary steps to reduce the loss of innocent life in our operations undertaken by both ISAF forces and Afghan forces in coordination," he said.
Noting that US worked in coordination with the Afghan government, Carney said, "We are making sure that we have coordinated efforts with Afghan security forces. PTI
