The preliminary investigation report of PNS Mehran attack has revealed that 7-8 terrorists fled the naval base after launching attacks on Pakistan navy.
The report said that the retaliatory action against terrorists holed up in a building inside base lasted until 11:30am on May 23.
Incident’s lawsuit was lodged upon complaint of Lieutenant Irfan in Shahrae Faisal police station, the report disclosed, adding, the attack left two P-3C Orion aircraft ‘completely destroyed’ and a building ‘partially damaged’.
As many as 10 hand grenades, two rocket launchers, four Kalashnikovs, and fifty-five rounds of bullets were recovered from the crime scene, according to report.
Report also stated that a total of 860 shells of Kalashnikovs’ bullets, 165 shells of triple-two Rifle’s bullets, 30 shells of G3 Gun’s bullets, seven rocket shells, seven shells of Air gas, eight pieces of rocket and a suicide vest were seized after armed forces retook control of the naval facility.
Navy personnel, Adnan, stood guard at the check post near runway, informed the seniors about the penetration of terrorists into naval facility, stated the report, further adding that Adnan informed Lieutenant Irfan regarding infiltration of 12 terrorists into base.
As per Adnan, terrorist made entry through check post number 9. Irfan, subsequently, intimated higher officials about attack.
Army, Rangers, and Navy commandos rushed to PNS Mehran base to counter terrorists’ attack.
